With space exploration on our doorstep, we all ask ourselves what fate has in store for our species as we venture out past our home planet. Some of us may one day in fact be the very space rangers that make the finding of that fate possible.

In Ranger Danger, get ready to explore the possibilities of what we may come to discover. Wormholes... black holes... other beings... friendly or not...

Take the role of a pilot in our solar system who has found the first recorded black hole in our space-neighborhood. What will you discover, and what will you learn to get yourself back home?

*Game is currently in development. 2D level exploration and combat game with heavy influence from original retro titles.

Modifications:

*Brief overview, to be honest, I modified so many scripts it would be silly to list every change. But I will list everything I can think of.

Audio: Minimal changes, repurposing of other assets to make sounds for text cinematic

Visual: Again, minimal changes, lots of repurposing of other assets.

Interactions:

Made a boosting mechanic. Had to make adjustments to scripts to make it happen, also added UI slider mechanic to represent level of boost

Made a teleport mechanic with worm holes. Entering a worm hole that is usually somewhat hidden transports you to secret area with more points and a new feature. Heavy script making involved.

Tweaked code to make walls that have health and are breakable, but interact different with bullets and enemies running into them if I choose. For example, I can make enemies shoot through walls, or chaser enemies run into walls and either detect them and destroy them or not destroy the wall and be stuck behind it.

Modified code to make a UI element for amount of lives left

Added  more holders in scripts for keeping the amounts of objects in the scene down when viewing it

In general, if you compare the before and after scripts, many are slightly changed or incorporate tools I either learned from C# manuals (guides, databases, whatever you want to call them), or from looking at current code and repurposing. There are a lot of QOL features or holders/variables I needed to add to make things work.

PLEASE download the Mac or windows version and play. The browser game ruins my UI no matter what I do, and removes all the sound from my text cinematics!

ONLY the first level, and the first 2 story scenes are completed. Lots of time was spent making back-end interactions happen. This is simply proof-of-concept.
